Hetty Easter is a fine artist based in the Finger Lakes region of NY. She holds two degrees from Syracuse University in surface pattern design and fashion design and studied under Nelson Shanks at Studio Incamminati. Easter enjoys teaching aspiring artists of all ages and has taught at Syracuse University as well in workshops, classes, and private instruction. Her practice includes plein air, portraiture, live event painting, children’s book illustration, and studio work. She paints in water color and oil and sometimes employs gold leaf, which adds depth and mystery to her fine renderings of natural objects. Her portraiture captures the essence of her subjects and the nuances of their individuality.
The broad body of plein air work explores the connection between people and the natural world and is deeply rooted in the rhythms of nature. She also offers live event painting, including weddings and special events. This work allows her to celebrate her commitment to community engagement and the shared experience of art.
